New Moon, New Me Manual

If you’re somewhat (or very) into astrology, new moon cycles are pretty transformative events. If not, think of it as an outlook reminder from your girl Mother Nature.

Who set New Year's resolutions last year? Great. So, who remembers what their New Year's resolutions were last year? I’m not even going to ask what month you forgot them. OK, who set New Year's resolutions this year?

It’s a vicious cycle.and.i.keep.falling.for.it.

Setting New Years resolutions is good in theory. The issue is that they tend not to be very effective. Bummer. Please raise your hand if you’ve ever been personally victimised by your own New Year's resolutions?

One leading reason for this is that there’s no structured opportunity to reflect on progress and re-focus.

New moons represent the beginning of a cycle and the full moon represents a clearing or release. They also happen every 29.5 days. Seems like a legit time to reflect on where you’re at (the waning of a moon) and engage in new beginnings (commencement of a new moon).

If you’re not very into astrology, think of it as an outlook reminder from Mother Nature. She got your back.

1. Check out the moon calendar here 

2. Create a vibe Clear space, Clear mind yes?

Find a nice space are area where you can come back to easily each month. This could be in your home, a nice spot at the park etc. Clear it of anything distracting and that could detract from the vibe. Potentially even find a nice candle and some cute cushions.

3. Get yourself a cute notebook

Writing things down is quite a powerful move. One study showed that 76 percent of people who write their goals down, actually achieve those goals or are in the process of achieving them, compared to only 42% of people who just thought about their goals.

4. Do you want fries with that? Order's up.

Go wild on the menu. Come up with a list of (max) 10 things you want.

  • Be specific. Asking the universe for what you want can be very powerful
  • Write in a positive and affirming tone  “I am” and not “I need” or “I want.”
  • Focus on what you want, not what you don’t want.
  • Some people find naming smaller intentions are far more rewarding and therefore effective in our development process as they are doable, achievable aka. More pats on backs. Ie. You may want to develop more confidence in your skin: "I will change my KOVRD Pillow Slip at least twice a week"

5. Feel it out

The law of attraction dictates that if you can feel it with your entire body, it’s more likely to become a reality. Not speaking about the wildly entertaining Pierce Brosnan rom-com here.

Close your eyes. Imagine yourself achieving the goal. How do you feel? Do you feel happy? Do you feel proud? What happens as a result of achieving this goal? Do you believe it? THEN when you're preparing for the next new moon/mother nature outlook reminder, get ready to....

6. Reflect and Reset.

As the moon cycle starts to close, take some time for number one and give her some credit for where she’s at. Look at your list of 10 items. What didn’t you quite achieve? Leave it on there and just keep working on it.

If you were able to tick somethings off, firstly booyah!

Secondly, make space for a new intention. Maybe it’s a step further than the one you achieved? I.e. You stuck to your KOVRD Pillow Slip intention. Maybe now "I want to apply a night mask twice a week before bed"

Before you know it you have the disciplined skin regime of a beauty editor and your skin glows brighter than a full moon ;)
